Learning to Paint with Alison C. Board

Technique Tuesday is back!

After taking the month of June away from TT to be able to concentrate on other projects and take a holiday, I am back with a vengeance. June was an odd month for me, filled with the highs of spending time with dear friends in Ireland and then us having to say goodbye to our beloved horse Archie but time and happy memories are already starting to make things easier and so my creativity is returning after such sadness.

Sometimes, having a project on the horizon can focus you when you possibly don’t feel that delicious wave of creative urgency wash over you, so you could say that being back with TT has given me a bit of a kick when I could easily have pushed painting to one side. You will all know what I mean I am sure…

Today I wanted to share the re-launch of my online art group The All A-Board Artists which has been established for over twenty five years now in various guises, this month seeing its most ambitious launch to date. Now offering six varying levels of membership, you can subscribe to suit your lifestyle from taking part via Facebook, through pre-recorded tutorials, and live Zoom workshops right through to Private Lessons. I will reveal more in the broadcast or you can read about it HERE.

To give all levels of membership context, each month I choose a theme that helps each subscriber to link together what they are doing and give us the chance to pull together techniques for that particular subject. July is all based on my Plan Bee project (read more about that HERE) and so I have chosen the theme ‘In the Garden’ to allow the subscribers flexibility to interpret the subject in any way they wish. Therefore I have started back with TT by sharing a fungi project with you all:

I will continue with where I left this painting next week, it’s going to be interesting to see how those textures dry as I’ve not tried adding fibres in that way before.
