Tips and Tricks: July

Back to basics with a quick colour mixing exercise

Here’s a new Tips and Tricks video for you to brighten up your day.

This month I am encouraging you to go right back to basics. Maybe you are right at the beginning of your painting adventures or perhaps you have been painting for years, either way it never hurts to think about the building blocks of art once in a while and fill in any gaps in your knowledge. In my case, it is often needed to remind myself of things I have forgotten or filed away in the back of my head!

In this video I have kept it simple, just using a few colours to try and get natural looking greens, those shades that show foliage or are useful in a landscape painting. You don’t need to exactly match what I have used, use whatever you have but explore the possibilities as you might surprise yourself with what you can get.

I do hope you enjoy the video and let me know how you have got on with tackling a similar subject, either by commenting below or by tagging @aliboardartist on social media.

Please note that there is no audio for this video, just lovely music for you to enjoy, do feel free to mute it if you would prefer to use your own background sounds when watching.

See you soon, Ali
