Tips and Techniques: May

Welcome to your tips and tricks blog for May, I hope that you are enjoying this series and that it helps you with any creative projects that you may be working on.

Every month I share a short, pre-recorded video for you that shares a nugget of information that I hope helps with products, techniques or creativity and this month I have uploaded a very experimental film that shows me playing with further gelli plate techniques and a photo of myself that continues the theme of ‘Experimental Portraiture’ for May.

Please note, there is no audio for this video, just lovely relaxing music for you to enjoy.

Colour of the month is more of a stylistic choice than necessarily a particular pigment, as for May I choose the amazing golds that the artist Gustav Klimt used in his work.

My art group The All A-Board Artists will be studying his work this month and creating pieces that dive into his process…I can’t wait to find all my metallic paints and give them an airing.

As a little inspiration, here is Klimt’s ‘The Kiss’, possibly his most famous work and it’s easy to see why many people love it.

If you fancy having a go at your own Klimt-inspired piece and like to share your work on social media, do feel free to tag me in the post by including @aliboardartist and selecting my profile from the list, I’d love to see what you have created.

See you soon, Ali
