Printmaking Project Part 5

Ooo I have had fun over the weekend! This week’s Technique Tuesday needed me to make sure that I tested out a few things before you got to see them in the broadcast, mainly me revisiting my inking up skills and reminding myself how to check for various things. As much as I quite relish the challenge of flying by the seat of my pants when I demo (blame my theatrical upbringing), this time it needed quite a bit of prep, but it was so much fun to play with the nuances of printmaking, I had forgotten how much I love it.

So before we get to what I did and how I did it, here is the equipment list of things you will need for the printing of your plate:

Cartridge Paper, the type I used can be found here: https://tidd.ly/3u81u0E
Newsprint paper: https://tidd.ly/3j0yUHZ
Rubber gloves
Scrim/open weave fabric
Old credit card/stick/piece of rubber
Old telephone book or newsprint can work too
Akua intaglio ink
Bamboo wipes
Cotton Buds
Old tray/clean sink to soak the paper

and how every it is that you are going to process the print, either with a printing baren or running it over in your car OR if you have access, an intaglio press.

So without further ado, here is how the plate turned out:

Now this might seem like the end of the demo but as you will have heard me say during the broadcast, I want to push this a bit further and embellish the prints a little so tune in to next week to see what I do with them. Have I decided yet? Of course I haven’t! See you next week, Ali
